You can choose right handed or left handed

By twinshappiness | Mar 18, 2009

The other day I went to survey on kindergarten for Sean. One of the kindergartens principle told me that Sean is under 3 year old so there is still time to choose for him whether he will be a right handed or left handed. The principle told me that if you want him to be right handed, they can train him. Do you think that is wise?

I have no intention of forcing Sean to be right handed or left handed. Although we are right handed, we feel that it is better for Sean to choose which ever he prefers. I cannot remember my childhood well regarding the teacher has force me to use left hand or right hand to write. I just remember that if there is punishment, I need to write 100 times of the same notes on the exercise book. That is the reason one of my right finger’s nail is a bit side way.

OMG that is terrible to write until your nails got side way. Regarding Sean I think it is best for him to choose which ever he likes. To say age 3 is also not that young and this might remember this incidents. I don’t find left handers any problems in fact quite talented too :)

@Ken yeah its permanent side way nail now not too obvious I think.

I think it would be more wise if two hands acan be used comfortably. It lessens the tiredness I believe but I am always right sided whether kick or punch.. ^^

That was mean huh! For a teacher to force you which side of the hand you can use? Awful! But of course, if there are scientific evidence as to the advantage of one side over the other, it’s worth the forcing of that side.

@webbielady, I am not sure how she is going to teach kids using just the left or right that parents choose. I think it is bad to do that.

Hmmm… I am wondering what the child would feel. I dont exactly remember when i was a child which hand i felt comfortable using… left or right… i was always right handed or so it seemed.

Thnaks for putting my ad 125 by 125 up there. ^^ It looks great!

both my children are left-handed TH :)
in fact Charlotte is ambidextrous.. she started school when she was 4 years old..
I would let Sean use the hand that he feels most comfortable with…
    I think training is unnecessary..
it’s very sad that you were forced to write lines to the extent that it damaged your finger nail :(

Children have a right to do what they want, forcing them to the thing that’s not appropriate with them, caused them violent. Children need opinion and guidance that could help them to grow beneficially. What I only remember when I started to write, my teacher letting us to write things using either left hand or right hand…hmmmm…I am a right handed..

Wah can choose one it seems! I think it’s best for the child to decide which hand he wants to use. :)
