Potty training failed

By twinshappiness | Apr 19, 2008

I am feeling so sad and like want to give up, Sean refuse to go for potty training. I have been told so many times that he should have started earlier. I didn’t listen I just think that when time comes he will be interested to learn.

Today, my brother is coming back this evening and we all are happy about it. Can’t wait to see him at night for the buffet dinner at his sister-in-law’s house. I wanted to see the twins too.

Do you have children? How to teach them to brush teeth? I am having problem as Sean just eat the toothpaste thats it. No brushing at all, not even wanting me to brush for him. I hope I am not a bad mama. Every parents want to give their children the best.

These issues are frustrations for every parent. My little girl is 2 1/2 (almost) and I have been working with her on potty training for over a year. She still goes in her pants - stubbornness, laziness. . . who knows. It drives me crazy. The teeth brushing wasn’t too much of an issue. I used to clean her gums and teeth with a finger brush and once she had enough teeth to use a real brush I used that. When she noticed that her brush looked like mine she wanted to try it. I just used my brush and showed her exactly what to do and she did it. It’s to the point that she can use bubbly, regular toothpaste instead of baby training toothpaste because she learned how to spit out the bubbles and rinse out her mouth from observation. It did take a few times before she spit out all the bubbles every time, but she is pretty good about letting me help her. I think what did it is I told her that the toothpaste would make her sick if she swallowed it and her teeth would fall out if she didn’t get them all clean (true on both counts, too harsh, I don’t know; it worked that’s all I can say).

Keep trying. My mom teases me and says that she’ll finally potty train when she starts dating. It’ll be too embarrassing to mess her pants in front of her boyfriend. Moms, you’ve gotta love them.

Not many kids in first grade wear diapers! Is it really a problem? I never pushed my boys and none of them need my help anymore now that they’re teens and adults. :-) Really, they all do learn eventually. Usually it even gets to the point where THEY want to do it even though some moms prefer diapers to finding a bathroom in a hurry everywhere they go!
